Since 2009, Guernsey has been publishing population bulletins based on administrative registers. It plans not to take any more censuses. According to the registers, Guernsey’s population as of 2012-03-21 was 63,085. The Policy and Research Unit is planning to develop methods for reporting population by parish, but has not yet done so.

On 2006-03-29, the ISO 3166-1 Maintenance Agency issued an update. Guernsey has a new country code assigned to it.

Guernsey includes the islands of Guernsey, Sark (Sercq in French), Alderney (Aurigny), Herm, Brecqhou, Jethou, and Lihou. The smaller islands are dependencies of Guernsey.

The UN LOCODE page  for Guernsey lists locations in the country, some of them with their latitudes and longitudes, some with their ISO 3166-2 codes for their subdivisions. This information can be put together to approximate the territorial extent of subdivisions.

Change history:

Although there has been no change in the political geography of Guernsey, on 2006-03-29 it was given a new ISO country code. Before that time it had been lumped in with the United Kingdom. Its old HASC code was GB.GU; its ISO code, GSY.
