Changes affecting status:

  1. Botswana: Two districts merged. Added 2001 census data.
  2. Uganda: Eleven new districts created. Added 2002 census data.

Other data added:

  1. Country Codes: Distinguishing Sign of Serbia and Montenegro changed to SCG.
  2. The ISO 3166 maintenance agency has issued ISO 3166-2 Newsletter No. I-5. It contains updates to the ISO standard for primary administrative subdivisions. Countries affected are Botswana, Czech Republic, Libya, Malaysia, Senegal, Serbia and Montenegro, Switzerland, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Venezuela.
  3. Honduras: Added population figures from censuses of 1881, 1895, and 2001.
  4. India: Updated numbers of districts. Added state codes from census.
  5. United Kingdom: Corrected 1991 populations.
  6. Venezuela: Added more name origins.

Secondary divisions:

  1. Estonia: Added an explanation of municipality types (see 1992).
  2. Honduras: Added municipalities.
  3. India: Improved change history. Described recent creations of districts in Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal. Changed many approximate dates to precise dates.

Time zones:

  1. Brazil: Added change history. Updated current time changes.

Site design changes:

  1. Jose Gavinha suggested that I color-code to make it easier to pick out the tables that represent the current subdivisions of a country, as opposed to historical or supplemental data, etc. I'm giving it a try on the pages that have been updated this month. Tables with a yellow background color contain the current subdivisions; tables with a purple background are something else. It will take a long time before this color code can be applied to every page.
  2. I've started showing the total number of divisions at the end of each table where applicable. This also will be a cumulative change.
